SHAH ALAM, May 18 — The Asian Business Golf Championship (ABGC) is slated to kick off on June 11 with the aim of elevating Malaysia into a regional hub for corporate golfers.

The multi-leg championship will feature seven qualifying rounds, which will be held across Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Perak from June to October.

The final round will be held at the Els Club Teluk Datai in Langkawi from October 11 to October 14.

ABGC will be a fully Malaysian platform held under the royal patronage of the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.

Tengku Amir Shah officially launched the tournament at the Kota Permai Golf & Country Club here today, and expressed his hope for ABGC to emerge as a premier golf tournament in Asia.

“Malaysia has a wonderful array of golf clubs and business tournaments and we have a thriving business community in the region.

“Golf is a great catalyst in bringing these two communities together — the spirit of competition and the spirit of business.

“So, I hope to see that in future, the ABGC will be hosted not just in Malaysia but throughout other regions in Asia,” he said at a press conference after the launch.

Organised by Elora Global, Selangor-based property developer Kueen Lai Group of Companies will be title sponsor for the inaugural championship.
